This week, I asked Steve to bring his copy of Rallyman so I could finally get to play it. And an excellent game it is too, although our three stage race took all night so I'd like to see how it plays in a shorter timeframe.

I kicked off the first stage and was feeling my way round to a degree but managed to finish the stage just 7 seconds behind our expert, Steve, and Mark W. Pete suffered a mishap and ended 1 minute 54 seconds adrift. The short second stage saw me have a very clean run whereas both Steve and Mark W span off, meaning I took the lead by 35 seconds while Pete recorded the fastest stage time and clawed back quite a bit of his deficit. So, having clear track in front of me for the final stage, I proceeded to spin off right at the start of that critical position and then picked up a puncture half way round. Lack of experience saw me trying to limp home (whereas I should have just taken the time to change the tyre) and I could only watch in disbelief as all three of my opponents overtook me in the closing stages. However, in a complete turnaround, Pete proved an expert in coming from behind to take an improbable victory with some very accomplished driving. Well played. Scores are shown as additional seconds over Pete's winning time of 12 minutes 2 seconds.
