We followed up Santiago with another game we've not played for ages, Ark, a brain melting card game from Doris and Frank. When I say brain melting, at least it is for me as I had just as much difficulty working out where things could be played as I did the first time I played. Guy latched onto it quicker than most and ended up as the "placement police" and keeping everyone legal. Nige managed to collect a number of tokens for the final phase, important as you need a token for each card you place, but forgot that you couldn't play shy animals or provisions and that was all he was left with. Mark K had the most tokens and was able to play cards for longer than everyone but could only get the sole majority in one scoring type, unlike Mark W who managed two majorities and sealed the win. Despite my difficulty, I managed third place much to Nige's disgust at him being beaten by the clueless player! |
