The group of four had only just finished the rules explanation as we started our second game of the evening: Roll Through The Ages. This is a civilisation-type game played with dice and lasting about 45 minutes. Although this sounds unlikely, it does play pretty well and is more than just another Yahtzee clone. Tom and I both decided to concentrate our early efforts on building extra cities, which I think is pretty important. Mark K delayed this for two or three turns and definitely suffered as a result. Tom went for monuments in a big way and managed to complete four of the six for 21 points. I claimed the other two and managed to convert some coinage into some useful developments. I also managed to roll the Pestilence disaster a couple of times which hit Mark K particularly hard. When the dust settled, I managed to squeak a slight win over Tom who was in contention all the way through. The less said about Mark's score the better. |
