After Antike, we had about 45 minutes left so we tried out this neat auction game by Emanuelle Ornella and published by Amigo. You are trying to collect sets of goods cards to sell. A set consists of three of the same type of good and your reward is the highest numbered card in the set. However, to acquire cards in the auction you bid with the goods cards in your hand and the successful bidder places the cards bid plus any one of the goods cards won into the marketplace. There are a number of auctions each round equal to the number of players with each auctio vying for a diminishing number of cards. Winners of each auction drop out of later auctions but gain more cards. However, once the round has finished, players take cards from the marketplace in reverse order of which auction they won. So, players who won more cards at auction get later picks at the marketplace. Once the deck of cards has been exhausted, whoever has sold the most valuable sets of goods cards is the winner.

We all liked this game quite a bit as there is a fair bit of angst in deciding whether to bid higher for a larger number of cards or bide your time to get earlier picks at the marketplace. Tom was stuffed on the opening deal, only receiving low cards, which meant he was virtually forced to miss out on cards at auction. I managed to get a set of jokers sold early in the game for five points but Guy was the one who benefitted from some good auction wins and kept his nose ahead throughout the game.
