While the other four were off making swords in Toledo, the remaining three of us were settling planets in Race for the Galaxy. It was the first time playing for Tom and Guy and there is quite a learning curve. However, they both picked it up pretty quickly. Guy never quite seemed to have the right cards for what he was trying to do while Tom's military strategy looked pretty strong from about half way through the game. I was on a Produce/Consume strategy and managed a couple of good Consumex2VP rounds. The game ended in the same round as the VPs ran out and Tom and I building our 12th building. I was well ahead in VPs but Tom had three 6-point developments that gave him 23 bonus points. However, it wasn't quite enough and I held on for victory. |
