This week, with seven of us gaming, we decided to dig out Formula De, which I’ve not played for a long time. We decided on two laps of the Monaco circuit and I managed to take pole position. This didn’t do me any good as I stalled on the grid, as did John and Mark K. Tom and Guy capitalised and Tom took a strong lead going into the second lap. After my disastrous start, I was pushing my car to the limit trying to get back in touch and I was forced to go into the pits for some fresh tyres. The pit crew were in record-breaking form and I managed to rejoin the circuit still in third place. Tom unfortunately suffered a couple of lapses in concentration and paid dearly for it, eventually spinning about halfway round lap 2. My fresh tyres allowed me to continue sliding through the bends and take the lead going into the harbour area. Guy was a bit behind in second but Mark K managed some miraculous driving to slipstream him coming out of the final bend. After an eventful race, I took the chequered flag for a popular victory among the Monaco crowd while Mark K, who started at the back of the grid and stalled, claimed a hard-fought second place with Guy taking the third place podium position. Great fun.
