We then tried this Reiner Knizia card game about making soup. Each round you pick a menu and try to win tricks to collect cards of the matching type, without having it contaminated by chilli peppers or bouillons. One round you have to pick the no soup today menu which means not collecting cards, which can be quite tricky especially if you leave it to the last round and get dealt high cards. Steve and I both learnt that lesson the hard way. Nige wiped the floor with us proving his culinary skill is ... well pretty bad, just not as atrocious as the rest of us.

I thought the game quite interesting with a slightly different mindset needed compared with most whist type games. It did go on a bit too long and the others weren't overly keen. OK but not one of Reiner's better card games.
