After travelling around the world, we then opted to race our Red Indian canoes down the Canyon. This is a prediction whist game, where the points you gain, from taking tricks and correctly predicting the number of tricks you are going to take, move you downstream along the canyon. There are opportunities to block the path of others and, near the end, movement becomes more difficult and you can end up drifting over the waterfall.

Now I seemed not to get a decent hand all game and in 4 of the first 5 rounds didn’t see a single trump. Correctly predicting I would take no tricks wasn’t very hard in these circumstances but meant I was only crawling downstream. Steve seemed to do pretty well up until the point the stream narrowed and he got badly blocked first by Nige and then Mark K. Nige ended up winning easily and no-one went over the waterfall although John came close when he got pushed in that direction by another drifting canoe. Good fun and quite a nice variant to standard prediction whist.
