Game played: Cloud 9 ( Out of the Box ) BGG Id: 632

I wasn't at this week's session so this is a report from Steve.

Second game was Cloud 9. This started with a truely remarkable explanation of the rules from John, which after 5 minutes meant we still hadn't got a clue about how to play. Nige remarked that it was the worse explanation he'd ever heard, especially considering John was a former teacher!

After that we did get manage to get going on a game which is a large part nerve and a equally large part luck. The early running was with Mark G and Nige, but with not one, but two wild cards Steve suddenly took the lead. The scores at this point were Steve 38, Nige on 36 and Mark G on 33. There was a mistake by Steve at this point, he should have been on 43, but didn't realise until later. The last trip of the balloon saw Nige jump at the 12 point stage to go to 48, this was based on Steve electing to stay in the Balloon. Next to Bail was Steve who if he had more nerve would have won, but chickened out at the 15 point stage to go to 53 points (50 points being the winning post!) Mark G stayed in and at the 4 dice stage for 20 Points rolled an incredible one colour and three blanks!! The balloon went to 25 points and Mark G took the victory.

Steve still wouldn't have won even with the extra 5 points because Nige almost certainly wouldn't have bailed out when he did if that had have been the case and in fact would have probably taken the victory with 61 points.
