With seven of us this week, we split into groups of four and three. My group of four started with Histrio, a new game by Bruno Cathala and Christian Martinez. This sees players putting together a troupe of entertainers to attempt to satisfy the King's mood but will he be looking for comedy or tragedy? The players also need to sway the King's mood to whichever their troupe is better at. Money is awarded at the end of each of two seasons and whoever has amassed the biggest fortune is the winner. I made a silly error at the end of the first round and banked on Andrew doing something else at the end of the second (which looked to be his best move) but he instead blocked me and my game crumbled around me - not that I would have won and Andrew did take the win by a point so, perhaps he made the right choice after all. A nice second-guessing game, using the familiar action card mechanism from Mission: Red Planet, beautifully produced but not going to set the world alight as it doesn't have anything to make it stand out, gameplay-wise.
