After Libertalia, Andrew suggested Ave Caesar and, as it is one of my favourites, how could I say no? John and Beth had not played before but they soon got into the swing of blocking and trying to force others wide. John took the brave decision not to pay homage to Caesar at the end of the first lap and I feared he might end up getting fed to the lions. And although Andrew was doing a good job nearly a full lap behind of trying to go slow enough to block him on the second lap, John did manage to get into the "pit lane". I was unlucky not to have a card to block him and Andrew from getting out of Caesar's pit lane so they both managed to escape and all I could hope for was John was stuck with a 6 card he couldn't play while in the lead. However, he had managed to ditch all of his 6s earlier in the race and he just crossed the line ahead of me, grabbing a good win. And everyone managed to cross the line so there obviously hadn't been enough forcing people wide to run them out of cards before the finish. Great game.
