This week there were ten of us with John R and Beth joining us for the first time. Two tables of five was the obvious split so John, Beth, Nicky and Andrew joined me for some pirate plundering in Libertalia. This is a really clever but simple game of second-guessing your opponents and making your cards work together as best you can, while knowing that others can easily mess with your plans. Everyone playing with the same 21 cards, while knowing that people's choices will diverge during the game as they play cards in a different order, is an excellent mechanism. Beth seemed to be getting some good combinations together while Andrew and John were getting hit by their fair share of nasty cards from others. My cards just seemed to string together in some haphazard order that didn't yield me many points at all. It ended up very close between Andrew and Beth but Beth just managed to hold on for the win.
