We finished off with Casa Grande, a Ravensburger game designed by Gunther Burkhardt. This is a tower building game which looks at first glance a bit like Torres. This is a bit more family-oriented, however, as where you can build is partly determined by a die-roll although there are ways of mitigating that. When you build platforms across your towers, you receive cash based on the size of the platform and its height. However, you often are wanting to build on other people's platforms and they get compensation on a nine-step bonus track and whenever someone reaches the top of the track, they move back to the bottom and collect £9. Once someone has used all their tower pieces, the current round is finished and the richest player wins.

When it started, I didn't think much of the game but as the landscape of towers developed and you had more to think about in terms of interacting with other players' towers and also trying to block them on occasion from being able to finish a lucrative platform, it got much more interesting. Still not a top-tier game but quite a nice 45 minute game with some light decision-making and some randomness from the die-rolls. I came out on top in this game.
