The other table played the new edition of Merchant of Venus that I'd brought back from Canada. A long learning game: Even though we played the "lightning version", we even shortened the normal 15 turns to 11 and it took us 2.5 hours once we'd made it through the long rules explanation. There is a lot going on in the game and I think we need to try again to appreciate it properly (although Andrew didn't like it so may give it a miss). I scraped the win due to a fabulous (and somewhat fortunate) final turn. My navigation roll came up with the number I wanted for the first time all night, I took a gamble on buying fuzzy dice and managed to roll a double and gained 500 credits from my accumulated fame. This was enough to take me past Guy who'd made some profitable deliveries during the game and took good advantage of his pilot's telegate ability - unlike my pilot who kept discovering new telegates in spaces next to existing ones and travelling a perpetual loop between them. |
