There were only three of us this week so Mark G taught us Tzolk'in, which he'd played the previous weekend. This is very much a game of forward planning and setting your cubes up to reap the best benefit when you remove them from the board. The gear mechanism is very clever and it should play quicker on a second attempt. There were also one or two rule additions / clarifications that Mark G slipped in midway through the game that would probably have changed my and Mark K's strategy somewhat and I ignored the tech tree for too long which was critical. Mark K ended up winning fairly comfortably and we were a bit on the fence as to whether this added anything much to the worker-placement type of game. Definitely need to try again now the rules wrinkles have been ironed out. |
