We enjoyed our first game of Kingdom Builder so much, we decided to play again straight away. This time, we tried to alleviate the problem of drawing matching cards on the first two rounds by drawing two cards after the first placement and allowing a choice between those two for the second round. It would have worked if Mark G didn't pick up a pair of matching cards. Again this really hurt, especially as one victory condition meant you needed to get a presence on all four boards. Between the rest of us, it was extremely close with Mark W just shading it, after he decided to change his final building placement while we were scoring up. I'm sure I've never seen such dubious practice before.
Interestingly, with this game, we've now reached session i.d. 1000. A thousand games played at the club since I first started recording the details in 2001. |
