This week, five of us met at my house with the extension finally having now been completed and the game room back in action. We opted for Porto Carthago, which is Bernd Eisenstein's follow up to the excellent Peloponnes. And this game is also a good meaty game but goes on quite a bit longer than the earlier release. It's all about trading in Carthage, buying goods to either load onto the various ships that arrive into harbour or ship privately. These then give money and trading points that can be used to acquire influence in the Palace and whoever has the most influence after the five rounds (or four in some circumstances) is the winner.

This turned out to be very close with Mark K and Nige having to gang up to prevent my surge for shipping that one extra good, followed by Nige just failing to deliver his final shipped good with not enough to gain another seat in the Palace, leaving Mark K with just enough to pip us right at the very end. Good stuff.
