Game played: 1825 Unit 1 ( Tresham Games ) BGG Id: 937

This week, I decided to give one of the 18XX titles a try as, although some of us had played 1830 and/or 1829 many years ago, none of us had had any recent experience (probably due to the length of the games). Well, this turned out to be a part game as it became obvious after about 90 minutes that we were unlikely to finish.

As a game trying to simulate the difficulties of running those pioneering train companies, it works pretty well but most of us felt that there wasn't too much in the way of fun to be had from playing and it was more of a maths exercise, working out how to optimise your working capital. Guy will be pleased to see that we played a game with no winner (although arguably I could have recorded this as a five-way joint win).
