The final game of the year was an old favourite, Phantoms of the Ice. I started off with a terrible team and soon got found out, following which I got challenged by everyone and lost all five matches. However, this meant I couldn't be chaalenged again and was able to bide my time until I got a better team to challenge people back. Ths enabled me to maintain a 100% home win record and a place in the final. Mark G and Guy were tied for second so they played off, with Guy taking the match 3-1. This left a very fitting final as the winner of this game would also take the 2008 Hall of Fame title. I had two hard men in my team so was hopeful of weakening Guy's team in the best of three match-up. However, each time, I seemed to nobble his weakest player and so Guy emerged victorious taking both of the first two ties: 3-2 and 3-1.
Congratulations to Guy who played very well throughout the year. At one stage, he had a very impressive 50% win-record, and he managed to survive (just) all the "Even Guy couldn't lose it from here" taunts to take the title in his first year. |
