We followed up with Witch’s Brew, designed by Andreas Pelikan and published by Rio Grande. This was nominated for this year’s Spiel-des-Jahres and I can understand why because it is a fun game. There were plenty of groans from people who found their declarations of “I am the …” being trumped by later players and even bigger groans from those who replied “So be it” only to find that they could have gone for the big reward instead. Mark G seemed to have a knack for stockpiling ingredients but wasn’t able to turn these into sufficient potions. Steve, on the other hand, did manage to brew plenty of concoctions and won this rather easily. I struggled early on but did manage to acquire a 6 point potion through the use of a spell on the last turn. However, this wasn’t enough and Steve was able to secure his first hall of fame point for ages.
