We then decided to try this new card game from Joe Huber and Jolly Roger Games. The theme is about building the best attractions of various types to attract customers to your theme park. Each turn, players have 4 action points with which to build attractions, advertise, research new rides etc. The better attractions cost more action points to build so you either go for quality or quantity depending on what the other players are doing. After everyone has had a chance to build, the customers visit their favoured park and bring victory points to the park's owner. After four rounds (with four players), whoever has the most VPs is the winner.

This was another nice, quick card game, which we all enjoyed. I preferred Tongiaki of the two but both are good for what they are. One problem with Scream Machine is that the cards are not clear enough and it was difficult to distinguish between rides of different types. The rules in the box are also not as good as they could be. Anyway, Mark K managed to grab a strong water- ride element to his theme park and benefitted from a good number of customers turning up who wanted water-rides. Mark G established lots of different types of attraction, whereas Nige went for the food (sorry, gained the upper hand in food outlets). My concentration on thrill-rides back-fired as the customers in this game mostly turned out to be wimps. At the end, both Marks tied for VPs, but Mark G broke the tie by having the most different types of attraction.
