Game played: Camel Up ( Pegasus Spiele ) BGG Id: 153938

With unusually good timing, both tables finished their games together so we decided to finish with an eight player game of Spiel des Jahres winner, Camel Up, as nobody bar Guy and me had played it before. I was a little concerned that eight would be too many for the game to work well, as each player has fewer turns during each leg, but it didn't really affect things too much. 'No-fun' Nige was entertaining everyone with his betting strategy as every time he bet, the camel he backed had misfortune piled upon it straight afterwards. The white camel was the hot property as it lagged badly early and some adventurous pundits bet on it finishing last. However, as is often the case, it managed to catch up and even took a good lead in the finishing straight with those who had held back on their bets then judging it time to back it to win. And, of course, it didn't meaning everyone's white bets losing people a point. When the dust from the track settled, Andrew emerged as a very clear winner while Nige recovered a bit to overtake Nicky and deny her the "happy bunny" status she'd been hoping for (by finishing ahead of Nige). And we've found a dice game at last that Felix actually enjoyed. A nice way to finish the evening.
