After Homestretch, our table turned to a new Kramer & Kiesling card game, Abluxxen. This is a very simple game but, despite that, I still got a rule wrong until I skimmed through the booklet partway through the first hand. Re-setting, we then played three hands with the correct rules. Abluxxen is a hand management game where you are trying to manipulate cards in your hand and on the table trying to be the first to get rid of all your cards with lots of cards on the table. However, cards played on the table can be knocked out, forcing you either to pick them back up again or draw an equivalent number from a face up display. I really liked this to and fro aspect of getting cards down and getting them knocked out so you can hopefully improve your hand so that later cards played don't get knocked out. It seems quite a fresh system, although I'm not sure five players is the best number to play with. Interestingly, the second hand saw everyone score reasonably high positive points whereas the last hand saw everyone with negative points. When the dust settled, Mark K emerged with the best score.
