With five of us this week, we started with an all-time classic: Ave Caesar. Phil was the only one who hadn't played before but it's very easy to pick up. I started first but my opening cards were all low so, inevitably, I got blocked badly and never really recovered. On the couple of opportunities I had to pass people, I never had the right cards to do so, plus I got forced wide just once too often. Nige, on the other hand, seemed to be cruising but was left with just a six in his hand so had to wait to be caught. Luckily for him, Mark K was forced to go past and allow him to sneak over the line. Like me, Phil also found his horses dying just before the line but he said he enjoyed the game.
