This week we had a table of four and one of five. The group of four started with Elder Sign, a nice thematic dice version of Arkham Horror. Our four investigators were up against Yig, who breaks through to our world after only 8 doom tokens are placed. However, we only needed to find 10 elder signs and we were quite fortunate in uncovering these reasonably early in the game. Previously, I've had to battle through lots of rooms without an elder sign in sight. We also were pretty proficient in our dice-rolling (we did have Mark G as one of the team so that shouldn't be a surprise) and without too much difficulty managed to discover the tenth elder sign to banish the (pretty pathetic) Yig for eternity.

Elder Sign is a nice fun romp of rolling dice to match the combiations in each location. There is some planning needed but it's not overly complicated and we all felt involved in trying to best tackle the encounters facing us. Our game ended up as not that difficult to defeat and it may be that some way of ratcheting up the difficulty may be necessary. Still, everyone enjoyed the game and I can see us playing it again soon.
