Game played: Pret-a-Porter ( Portal ) BGG Id: 87890

Eight players split into two tables this week. After the aborted game last week, Nige wanted to try Pret-a-Porter again and Mark W and I joined Mark K and Nige, who had both got the experience of last week's effort under their belt. As it turned out, we still only got to the third fashion show but once it was obvious we were not going to get all the way to the end, we agreed in advance that we would end after month 9. Now this didn't help Nige as he had spent his time building a massive engine, taking on loads of debt so that he had rucks of cash after the third show to probably dominate the final show. However, Mark K was a long, long way ahead (on the back of an absolutely fantastic first show where he generated about 80 income and loads of stars), and it was questionable if Nige could have made up the gap.

I liked the game quite a bit. Inevitably, I thought it was too long and Mark W felt it was a bit over-complicated (one or two too many mechanics thrown into the mix), but once we'd got through the first month, I felt I knew what I was doing. That said, there are one or two very powerful cards and that means you need to know what to look out for in advance and turn order for when those critical cards appear is a big advantage. All in all, a good game that I'd certainly play again. Three players might speed up the game but competition for the action spots might not be as intense.
